Welcome to UI Employer Registration

Each employing unit or business entity performing services in New Mexico must register with this Agency. The information gathered during this registration process will determine if you are required to make contributions under the Unemployment Compensation (UC) Law of New Mexico. Upon successful registration, you will be given an Employer Account Number (EAN) and provided access to the Unemployment Insurance (UI) Tax System where you will be able to report wages paid, pay any contributions due and manage your account.

The registration process may take anywhere from 15 minutes to one hour. Halfway through the registration, you will be emailed a Temporary User ID and Password. Keep track of the temporary information in case you are unable to complete the registration. Once the temporary login credentials are received, they will be valid for 30 days and will allow continuance of an unfinished registration through the “Continue Employer Registration” link. To successfully register your account, you will need to provide the following information, which is in the “Necessary Registration Information” section (below).

Necessary Registration Information

For successful completion of this registration, you will need to provide the following information:

  • Type of legal entity (sole proprietor, partnership, LLC, corporation, etc)
  • Trade Name/Doing Business As (DBA) Name
  • Federal Employer Identification Number (FEIN/EIN) https://www.irs.gov/ ‘Documentation is required to be uploaded during the registration process for proof of the FEIN/EIN from the IRS
  • Corporation Information (State of Incorporation, Date of Formation, Secretary of State (SOS), NMBTIN/BTIN https://www.sos.state.nm.us/ , https://www.tax.newmexico.gov/ ‘Documentation is required to be uploaded during the registration process for proof of the NMBTIN/BTIN from the Taxation and Revenue Department
  • Date employees first performed services in NM
  • Date employer first paid wages to those employees in NM
  • Owner/Officer information (SSN, resident addresses, % of ownership, FEIN/EIN)
  • Principal business activity or description of services performed in NM
  • Number of employees currently on payroll
  • Quarterly gross summary of wages paid to date
  • Predecessor InformationPredecessor Information
  • NAICS (North American Industry Classification System) code - The NAICS code will determine your industry tax rate assignment as a new employer.

Note: If Third Party Administrator (TPA) is registering the employer, a Third Party Administrator ID (provided by this agency) is required

You will be asked to certify that all information provided in this filing is complete, true and accurate. New Mexico Law provides for civil fines and criminal penalties for misrepresentation, evasion, willful nondisclosure, and failure or refusal to furnish reports or requested information to this Agency.
